YOU ME AT SIX - SUCKAPUNCH (2021)

I completely take back what I said in my previous post when suckapunch (song) was released back in November, I mentioned that I felt something was missing with it, that it didn’t give me the full feeling I desired after the hype. I was completely wrong, and after listening to the full album, I am proud to say I was wrong.

Now that the full SUCKAPUNCH (album) is here, and I’ve listened to it entirely, I am in awe of the talent YMAS continue to provide us with.

I’ve been a fan of theirs for many years now, and I love that they are constantly expanding their sub-genres as a band, each album is a new version of them, a new part of them that we (as a fan base) get to experience with them and they grow and I feel that is something that is very rare in today’s music industry.

Outstanding beyond belief, and the fact they brought it out on cassette too!? Starting trends all round and I completely support #bringbackcassettes ... I mean this will be constantly on repeat in my car now.

My personal favourite of this album is track 4, WYDRN. I just felt instantly related to the words they expressed in the track and I knew within seconds it would be my favourite off the album.

Kinda felt the start of KILL THE MOOD would be like an Oasis vibe, anyone else?

All in all, it’s heavier than what they’ve done before and that’s a good thing. But don’t worry if you prefer their softer stuff, there’s still elements of that in this album too (see GLASGOW).

And if you have never listened to YOU ME AT SIX before then start now, I promise you’ll be as obsessed with the vocals and riffs as I am!
