In a new #throwbackthursday special, I thought I'd give you lot a glimpse into my album collection! This week we are looking at my some of my ROCK collection.
All Time Low essentially shaped me and was my gateway drug into the magic of rock, from this band there was no going back for me. Pierce The Veil are also an early days starter for me, what I enjoy most about them compared to ATL is the fact that they can smoothly progress in and out of sub-genres which gives an all round compelling listen.
Thirty Seconds to Mars is an unbelievable talent in the world, pure passion is heard through each and every album. However, I could listen to This Is War on repeat forever. Linkin Park is in the same category here, they are legends of the music world even after the loss of the dearly beloved Chester Bennington. Mike Shinoda has continued embracing the value their music has to this world and has even released independent albums of his own whilst the band has been on hiatus.
McFly - now I wouldn't normally class them as rock but they are definitely a stepping stone in the right direction if you're a new starter simply looking to explore a few more similar bands. Another stepping stone is Hozier who is a more soulful kind of soft rock, that could easily introduce you into the world of rock, even if you've never been interested in the genre before.
Stone Roses - legends never die (or break up in their case) is all I can say. I can whole heartedly say that I am so glad their CD is the one that decided to get jammed in my car radio. I couldn't imagine life without this OG Manchester band. Similar could be said about Red Hot Chili Peppers, they are self-defined and instantly recognisable throughout the worlds as pure icons.
Good Charlotte, every album is a chart topper in my eyes and you can easily become invested in them with just a few listens. The Madden brothers definitely did create a work of art! On the other-hand, You Me At Six are self-creating their works of art, I love how fans can never just pin them to one specific genre or sub-genre and they are ever surprising.. For more on YMAS please check out my other articles solely dedicated to them in the 'rock' section.
Now I just love modern day artists embrace and adapting the rock concept to suit their own individual style and that's where Twin Atlantic come in. Where as, Twenty-One Pilots are a salute to the possibilities that can be embraced from the rock genre, forever learning, forever breaking through with new concepts in the music world.
With the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Liam Gallagher and Green Day in my opinion it is just impossible not to enjoy their music!
