Can you guess which Muse album is turning 20?

Yes! Hard to believe that the Origin of Symmetry is turning twenty this time next month!

In honour of this classic album we've decided to revisit it track by track in this The Dot: Music Blog special feature!

Origin of Symmetry is a wholesome collected album that is very much treasured in the fact that it shot Muse to fame with a brief position in the top ten charts throughout its original release time in 2001.

Our first track is New Born - Many of you will recognise this fan favourite for starting so angelically and then shortly before halfway through the real Muse is released as if straight from a paradox. Bliss, for me, is an overrated track for second position, it is a blender track along with Space Dementia, although both tracks are individually equally as popular.

However, ultimately this leads us to to climax of this album which is Hyper Music and Plug in Baby, perfectly composed and precisely positioned in the track list to bring you those ecstatic emotions of a new sound that you're eager to listen for in any new album.

This is an album for heavy rockers, with an outsider feel, it's an obvious for that with tracks such as Citizen Erased, Darkshines, and the ever celebrated iconic 'Feeling Good'. Origin of Symmetry in general is a very futuristic rock album take a listen to the suitably named 'Futurism' song for example.

I feel Micro Cuts was displaced in this album there was so much happening instrumentally throughout the entire piece that it would have been better saved for a feature single or on later albums. The same goes for Megalomania, it would have made a delightful second position, not second last, I feel it deserves more recognition than it truthfully gets.

PS. My personal favourite is Screenager, those soft strings with Muse's signature robotic metal sound is a beautiful harmony.
