WELCOME BACK SPECIAL: 'Songs That Saved My Life'

Inspired by @hoplessrecords we thought it would be fitting to restart our Song of the Day posts with 'songs that saved my life' or songs that mean a lot to us in general.

As a big music lover my entire life, I have often found great comfort and support in the lyrics of people I will probably never meet to tell them the impact they've had on my life. Nonetheless, I want them to know they are greatly appreciated.

Keeping in mind that we will be listing these songs in no particular order, I wanted to start with Sleeping With Sirens - Alone (featuring MGK), I had just seen SWS live for the first time after I lost someone very close to me and I actually got to meet Kellin, that moment will forever be special to me as with just one kind gesture Kellin had made me feel invaluable in a time when I was struggling.

Next up we have Fall Out Boy - Just One Yesterday, I cannot even begin to describe the depth of meaning this song has for me. If my life was a movie this would be the theme track, it just collates so many memories and when I hear it every now and then I am instantly transported back to that period of my life.

Moncrieff - Ghost, just give it a listen - if you have ever been let down in a relationship, if you feel your partner does not appreciate you as much as they should, if you fell in love with your best friend and now the friendship is tarred, or you have been 'ghosted' on a dating app by someone you felt you had a real connection with, I think this is the song you need to get everything out of your system!

Keywest - Ordinary Superhero, the was circulating at the very start of the pandemic and I was a keyworker at the time and I felt trapped, scared and in a strange way this song made me feel it was all worth it... so it's for all you hero's out there!

I could go on forever about songs that mean a lot to me, however, I won't. I will leave you with my final and greatly important track: Snow Patrol - Don't Give In / Take Back The City. I got last minute tickets to a festival in which they were playing and somehow throughout the set I got this overwhelming feeling that I needed to change my life, that is what lead to me changing my degree, and embracing my inner creativity and I have never been happier since I made that decision.

Thank You all for your continued support! May is Mental Health Awareness Month and that is what the primary focus of this post is, in saying that anytime you're feeling low and want to give up Chord Overstreet - Hold On is my go to song to put things into perspective and allow me to have a good cry that is often very much needed.
