This week we've had the privilege of getting a special preview for Jennels upcoming album 'Once Upon a Time I was More Fun' with thanks to Legion Records.
Their debut album is set to be released on September 3rd with the band from Sheffield (UK) self describing their music as 'music you can dance to, whilst crying'. (As someone who just went through a break up, I can vouch for this). There is a very strong old-style indie vibe to this, you could see this band following along the path of TOUTS, Oasis and even the Stone Roses.
Each song is catchy, each song is unique, the lyrics interestingly don't match the tracks, for example 'Scorn of Fools' would make you think it's a down in the dumps song but the instrumentals distracts you and actually makes you feel quite upbeat. I like that this pattern is followed throughout the entire album, and very much look forward to everyone being able to hear it on September 3rd, I'd put that date in the calendar now just to be sure you don't miss it!
Much like the rest of the world's live music industry, Jennels are looking forward to playing live shows again in the near future, as they are UK based keep an eye out for local shows!
